Overview
Located in the holy city of Kanchipuram, it is one of the largest temples in India, sprawling over 23 acres.
History
Existed since at least 600 CE. Later reconstructed by Pallavas, Cholas, and Vijayanagara kings.
Architecture
Famous for its thousands-pillared hall and the sacred mango tree (Sthala Vriksham) believed to be 3500 years old, yielding four different types of mangoes.
Spiritual Significance
Represents the Earth element. An essential part of the Kanchipuram temple tour.
