Overview
Proposed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is a twin-temple dedicated to Hoysaleswara and Santaleswara.
History
Built in the 12th century by King Vishnuvardhana of the Hoysala Empire. It took over 80 years to construct.
Architecture
Built with soapstone, the temple features no mortar. The outer walls display an endless gallery of Hindu iconography, with no two sculptures alike.
Spiritual Significance
Represents the zenith of Hoysala architecture.
