Overview

A highly revered shrine in Andhra Pradesh, where Goddess Durga is seen in her eight-armed form, holding powerful weapons and slaying the demon Mahishasura.

History

Described in various Puranas, it is believed Arjuna obtained the Pasupatastra from Shiva here.

Architecture

Dravidian architecture. The temple is reached by climbing steep steps on the hill, though elevators are now available.

Spiritual Significance

Second largest temple in Andhra Pradesh. Navaratri is celebrated here with unparalleled grandeur.
