Overview
The deity is portrayed as a young ascetic (Dhandayuthapani Swamy). The idol is believed to be composed of Navapashanam (nine poisonous herbs combined to form medicine) by Siddhar Bogar.
History
The temple has ancient roots, with significant contributions from the Chera kings and later the Nayaks of Madurai.

Perched on a hill accessible via 690 stone steps, winch, or ropeway. It features a stunning golden vimana over the sanctum.
